Botannical name: SAPINDUS MUKOROSSI / SAPINDUS DETERGENS
Family name: SAPINDACEAE
Genus: SOAPBERRY
Common name: SOAP NUT
Soap nut has been used since ancient India as the key ingredient for washing the finest silks and wools, as well as a shampoo and for polishing precious metals. This age-old wisdom can be applied to meet even today's most demanding needs, as a natural all-purpose cleaner and detergent.
Certified organic by USDA and ECOCERT, Envirochic 100% Soap Nut Powder has no artificial additives nor added ingredients and is completely biodegradable.
Soap nut powder is an excellent alternative to chemical cleaners. Soap nut powder is easier to use and more versatile than raw soapnut shells. Hypo-allergenic, gentle on sensitive skin and baby-bottom friendly, soap nut powder is exceptional for cleaning cloth diapers residue and odour free.
Being completely organic, some of the berry may still be insoluble, although normally rinsed away during rinse cycle. Where ultimate clarity is required, we recommend mixing powder in hot water allowing any particles to settle prior to adding to the laundry, or use the cotton bag as a filter.
Doing laundry with soap nut powder leaves clothes soft without the need for fabric softener. Soap nut powder washes scent-free, although itself is described as being a little spicey, a little earthy.
Directions for laundry:
Add 1 tbsp. for a standard (top loading) washing machine.
Low suds for H.E. (front loading washers) add only 1/2 tbsp. powder per large load or pre-mix with water.
Best results with warm/hot water (40-60C).
